Federer ties Connors' record for consecutive weeks as top-ranked player

LONDON (AP) -- Roger Federer tied Jimmy Connors' record of 160 consecutive weeks as the top-ranked player in men's tennis Monday.
The 10-time Grand Slam champion has held the No. 1 ATP Tour ranking since Feb. 2, 2004. The Swiss star is assured of breaking the record next week.
"Breaking records and doing something that hasn't been done for a long time, it's really nice," Federer said recently.
Connors was No. 1 from July 1974 to August 1977. He is now coaching one of Federer's biggest rivals, Andy Roddick.
Federer, who has won six of the last seven Grand Slam titles, hasn't played since beating Fernando Gonzalez in the Australian Open final on Jan. 28. He returns to action next week at the Dubai Open.
Federer has 8,120 points in the year-based rankings. Rafael Nadal, the man who beat Federer at the French Open last year, is second with 4,705 points. Nadal also beat Federer in the Dubai Open final last year.
The 25-year-old Federer has dominated tennis for the past three seasons, but is still trying to win a Grand Slam title on clay.
"That's the only way I can make this season a better one than last year," Federer has said. "Otherwise it won't be possible."
Last season, only Nadal and Andy Murray managed to beat Federer, who finished the season with 12 titles and 16 finals appearances in his 17 tournaments. He earned $8.34 million and also won the season-ending Masters Cup.
Federer couldn't be reached for comment Monday, but his mother was happy to hear that her son reached yet another milestone.
"Of course I'm proud. It's super that my son has been No. 1 for three years," Lynette Federer said.
Connors won eight Grand Slam titles in his career, which lasted more than 20 years. Although he also only failed to win the French Open, Connors did win the 1976 U.S. Open on clay.
The American is the only man to win the U.S. Open on all three surfaces -- grass, clay and hardcourt.
The ATP rankings began on Aug. 23, 1973.

English springer spaniel becomes top dog

NEW YORK - An English springer spaniel with a preference for chicken-and-garlic treats prevented America's top dog event from turning into "The Cosby Show."
Diamond Jim jumped into handler Kellie Fitzgerald's arms after being picked for best in show Tuesday night at the Westminster Kennel Club.
Dressed in a glittering copper top that perfectly matched her brown-and-white pet, Fitzgerald cuddled the 6-year-old certified therapy dog.
"I'm over the moon," she said.
Diamond Jim beat out a Dandie Dinmont terrier co-owned by Bill Cosby, as he did at the big AKC/Eukanuba event in December. The springer was the nation's No. 2 show dog last year behind Cosby's entry — Fitzgerald also repeated, having gone best in show at Westminster in 2000.
"Bill Cosby and I are good friends," she said. "We're both competitive. We both wanted to win."
Cosby's run of bad luck on the green carpet of Madison Square Garden continued. He'd lost with several top dogs in the past, and avoided coming this time to stave off the jinx.
Judge Robert Indeglia said he wished he had ribbons to give to all seven final contenders. Yet with only a purple-and-gold prize, he pointed to Diamond Jim.
Diamond Jim beat out the Dandie Dinmont, a pair of white poodles and a petit basset griffon vendeen, plus an Akita and a Bouviers des Flandres that pitted a husband and wife against each other. Larry Fenner handled the Bouviers and Laurie Jordan-Fenner guided the Akita.
With a few dogs barking and baying backstage, Diamond Jim was chosen out of the overall 2,628 entries in 165 breeds and varieties.
"I wanted him to go out with a bang," Fitzgerald said. "He shows 110 percent all the time. Fabulous, fabulous dog. He really excels in the big ring."
The dog commonly called James earned more than the silver bowl trophy — he also got to chow down. Fitzgerald said he did not eat before the show. Once it was over, he snacked on goodies that fell on the floor.
On Wednesday, he'll make a tour of the morning TV shows and enjoy a big meal at famed New York restaurant Sardi's.
This was his 51st best in show victory, and his last. He's retiring from the show world to live the life of a therapy and obedience dog. He's already worked with Alzheimer's patients.
Fitzgerald felt James' win illustrated that Westminster is more than merely a beauty pageant for primped and pampered pooches.
"They're working dogs," she said. "He's not going to be just a couch potato."
Diamond Jim will stay with Fitzgerald for about a week in Bear, Del. — "he likes my big backyard" — before heading home to his owners in Virginia.
She's had him for 2 1/2 years and "it's going to be difficult to give him up. He lives in my house."
This was the 100th time that best in show was presented at Westminster, and the sixth time that an English springer spaniel won. Terriers have won 44 times.
The Dandie named Harry was the nation's top show dog last year with 57 best in show victories. He fell short at Westminster last February when he slipped on the slick carpet.
Harry certainly drew his share of cheers from the crowd of about 15,000. Right before Indeglia, a cardiac surgeon, made his choice, a few fans shouted out, "Let's go, Harry!"
Cosby's daughter, Erinn, sat in the second row and hoped for a big win. On Monday night, she kissed her dad's dog on the mouth after he took the terrier group.
Named for Prince Harry, the dog officially named Hobergays Fineus Fogg was bred in New Zealand and won 30 events in Australia before going to live in Pleasanton, Calif.
After winning the sporting group earlier in the evening, Fitzgerald was asked about again taking on the Dandie. She was aware the upsets had a way of happening at this event.
"It's the Garden and it's Westminster, anything can happen," she said.

Federer not the best ever, not yet

By winning his first Madrid Masters title and 10th tournament of 2006 on Sunday, Federer is the first player in the Open era to win 10 titles for three straight years.
"Well, I am the best right now," Federer said after beating 10th-seeded Fernando Gonzalez 7-5, 6-1, 6-0. "But in history, I guess we'll never know except if I break all the records there are, but there's still a long way to go."
Federer moved ahead of Pete Sampras with his 12th Masters series title -- second only to Andre Agassi's 17.
And he isn't about to let up.
"I'm definitely in the fast lane right now, that's for sure," the Swiss star said. "I feel I can play a solid match any day. At the moment I feel great."
Federer didn't drop a set in Madrid while winning his 19th straight match and third straight final. This month, Federer won the Japan Open after capturing his third consecutive U.S. Open title in September.
Since the beginning of 2004, Federer has compiled a 237-15 record, with French Open champion Rafael Nadal the only player to have beaten him multiple times in that stretch.
At Madrid, he tied Ivan Lendl's 25-year mark of winning 80-plus matches in back-to-back years. This year, he's reached the final in 14 of the 15 tournaments he entered, winning 10 of them.
Federer will finish the year ranked No. 1 for the third straight year, and his 142 weeks at the top since February 2004 trail only Ivan Lendl (157) and Jimmy Connors (160) since the rankings began in 1973, another record he could surpass in 2007.
His 43rd career title left him 12th in the list of Open era (since 1968) champions, in sight of Thomas Muster (44), Rod Laver (47) and Boris Becker (49).
"I know that eventually you reach a certain level or standard and you're not going to change much in your game," Federer said. "There's little details that in the end make quite a difference. But I really feel over the last couple of years now I've become a more steady player with more choices in my game."
Federer pointed to his consistent serve and physical conditioning as the keys to his run to greatness.
"Physically, I've improved so much that I'm not scared of any five-setters, or of any tournament anymore," he said.
Federer improved to 8-0 against Chile's Gonzalez with a powerful backhand that registered only six winners on the scorer's sheet, but was instrumental in forcing Gonzalez into 29 errors and producing six double-break point opportunities.
Perhaps the one weakness he didn't figure his opponent might spot in him was champagne. Gonzalez caught Federer in the eye with the bubbly when they were celebrating after the match.
"I thought I lost it," Federer said about his eye. "I was looking for it on the ground. He got me good."

Stingray kills 'Crocodile Hunter' Irwin

CAIRNS, Australia - Steve Irwin, the hugely popular Australian television personality and conservationist known as the "Crocodile Hunter," was killed Monday by a stingray while filming off the Great Barrier Reef. He was 44.
Irwin was at Batt Reef, off the remote coast of northeastern Queensland state, shooting a segment for a series called "Ocean's Deadliest" when he swam too close to one of the animals, which have a poisonous bard on their tails, his friend and colleague John Stainton said.
"He came on top of the stingray and the stingray's barb went up and into his chest and put a hole into his heart," said Stainton, who was on board Irwin's boat at the time.
Crew members aboard the boat, Croc One, called emergency services in the nearest city, Cairns, and administered CPR as they rushed the boat to nearby Low Isle to meet a rescue helicopter. Medical staff pronounced Irwin dead when they arrived a short time later, Stainton said.
Irwin was famous for his enthusiasm for wildlife and his catchword "Crikey!" in his television program "Crocodile Hunter." First broadcast in Australia in 1992, the program was picked up by the Discovery network, catapulting Irwin to international celebrity.
He rode his image into a feature film, 2002's "The Crocodile Hunters: Collision Course" and developed the wildlife park that his parents opened, Australia Zoo, into a major tourist attraction.
"The world has lost a great wildlife icon, a passionate conservationist and one of the proudest dads on the planet," Stainton told reporters in Cairns. "He died doing what he loved best and left this world in a happy and peaceful state of mind. He would have said, 'Crocs Rule!'"
Prime Minister John Howard, who hand-picked Irwin to attend a gala barbecue to honor

"It's a huge loss to Australia," Howard told reporters. "He was a wonderful character. He was a passionate environmentalist. He brought joy and entertainment and excitement to millions of people."
Irwin, who made a trademark of hovering dangerously close to untethered crocodiles and leaping on their backs, spoke in rapid-fire bursts with a thick Australian accent and was almost never seen without his uniform of khaki shorts and shirt and heavy boots.
His ebullience was infectious and Australian officials sought him out for photo opportunities and to promote Australia internationally.
Irwin's public image was dented, however, in 2004 when he caused an uproar by holding his infant son in one arm while feeding large crocodiles inside a zoo pen. Irwin claimed at the time there was no danger to the child, and authorities declined to charge Irwin with violating safety regulations.
Later that year, he was accused of getting too close to penguins, a seal and humpback whales in Antarctica while making a documentary. Irwin denied any wrongdoing, and an Australian Environment Department investigation recommended no action be taken against him.
Stingrays have a serrated, toxin-loaded barb, or spine, on the top of their tail. The barb, which can be up to 10 inches long, flexes if a ray is frightened. Stings usually occur to people when they step on or swim too close to a ray and can be excruciatingly painful but are rarely fatal, said University of Queensland marine neuroscientist Shaun Collin.
Collin said he suspected Irwin died because the barb pierced under his ribcage and directly into his heart.
"It was extraordinarily bad luck. It's not easy to get spined by a stingray and to be killed by one is very rare," Collin said.
News of Irwin's death spread quickly, and tributes flowed from all quarters of society.
At Australia Zoo at Beerwah, south Queensland, floral tributes were dropped at the entrance, where a huge fake crocodile gapes. Drivers honked their horns as they passed.
"Steve, from all God's creatures, thank you. Rest in peace," was written on a card with a bouquet of native flowers.
"We're all very shocked. I don't know what the zoo will do without him. He's done so much for us, the environment and it's a big loss," said Paula Kelly, a local resident and volunteer at the zoo, after dropping off a wreath at the gate.
Stainton said Irwin's American-born wife Terri, from Eugene, Ore., had been informed of his death, and had told their daughter Bindi Sue, 8, and son Bob, who will turn 3 in December.
The couple met when she went on vacation in Australia in 1991 and visited Irwin's Australia Zoo; they were married six months later. Sometimes referred to as the "Crocodile Huntress," she costarred on her husband's television show and in his 2002 movie.

Roger claimed his fourth straight Wimbledon title with a hard-fought four-set victory over Rafael Nadal this afternoon.Roger took home the title with a 6-0, 7-6, 6-7, 6-3 victory in two hours 50 minutes on Centre Court. He has now joined Bjorn Borg and Pete Sampras as the only players to win four years in succession at the All England Club in the open era. He also recorded his 48th straight victory on grass to win his eighth Grand Slam title from nine final appearances."Now I like our rivalry again," he joked after having lifted the trophy.The second seed Nadal emerged with enormous credit for taking the first set off Roger since the third round last year, and the 20-year-old can only improve on grass in the coming years. Nadal had won six of the seven meetings between the pair, including all four this year and most recently at the French Open final last month, but it looked like being a totally one-sided contest as Roger stormed through the opening set in just 24 minutes.Nadal had only dropped his serve twice throughout the Championships before the start of play, but was broken three times in quick succession as Roger got off to a dream start. The world No 1 produced a stunning forehand winner on the run to achieve the first break and also took advantage of some uncharacteristic unforced errors from a nervous Nadal.Roger had been on court for a total of just nine hours and 13 minutes to reach the final, while Nadal needed more than six hours longer. ความรู้สึกของความรักมีใครรู้บ้างว่าความรักเกิดขึ้นได้อย่างไร? เกิดเพื่ออะไรและเกิดทำไม?
แต่สำหรับความรักของเราแล้วมันเป็นความรักที่ไม่อาจบอกเหตุผลได้ และ ก็ไม่สามารถบอกได้ด้วยว่ามันเกิดขึ้นได้อย่างไร ถ้าจะเปรียบความรักกับสิ่งหนึ่ง สิ่งใด เราก็คงเปรียบความรักเหมือน ขาข้างหนึ่ง

Tata is one of the most popular singers in Thailand,but she really wants to study.She feels that singing and acting are not the only things in life.Her plan is to study at Thammasat University.Then she might work in advertising or her family's business.She studied for five months in San Francisco,and then she came back to Thailand and studied English,maths,history and social studies with a private teacher.When she was in America,she missed Thailand and her friends here,so she wrote a song about her feelings called "Tata's Song"

วันนี้เป็นวันที่การสอบเสร็จสิ้นลงเสียที รู้สึกได้ถึงความเหนี่อยวันแรกของการสอบเป็นวันที่กลับบ้านไปแล้วรู้สึกอยากจะนอนมากที่สุดแต่ก็นอนไม่ได้เพราะ
วันต่อไปยังมีสอบอยู่ พอมาวันนี้กับปวดท้องทำข้อสอบวิชาสุดท้ายไม่รู้เรื่องเลยพูดง่ายๆก็คือมั่วนั่นเองเพราะไม่มีสมาธิมานั่งทำอยู่กลัวตกก็กลัวแต่จะทำไงได้
จะเป็นลมอยู่แล้วอะ ออกมาก็แทบจะเดินไม่ไหว หน้าซีดเลยเบื่อจังเลย การสอบวันสุดท้ายรู้สึกว่าทุกวิชาที่ทำไปไม่มั่นใจเลยซักวิชา

วันที่ 14 เป็นวันที่ฉันตื่นเต้นมากที่สุดเพราะว่าเป็นวันที่ฉันจะต้องไปแข่งร้องเพลงชึ่งก็เป็นงานแรกที่ได้สู่
ที่สาธารณะชนแบบนี้ทำให้ขาฉันสั่นมากเลยไม่รู้เหมือนกันว่าทำไมทำให้ตื่นเต้นอย่างนี้แต่พอร้องเรียบร้อยแล้ว
ก็ทำให้รู้สึกเหมือนจะอ้วกออกมาเลยอะ.

ธรรมะอยู่ในใจ

ในการเข้าค่ายปฎิบัติธรรมในครั้งนี้ถือว่าเป็นประสบการณ์ที่ดีครั้งหนึ่งที่ได้มีโอกาสได้มาทำในสิ่งที่ตัวเองยังไม่เคยได้ทำมาก่อน

เราได้เรียนรู้สิ่งที่คิดว่าลำบากแต่จริงๆแล้วมันเป็นสิ่งที่มีค่าในความรู้สึกของทุกคนและเหตุการณ์ในครั้งนี้ถือว่าเป็นสิ่งที่จะจดจำไว้ตลอดกาล.ตั้งแต่วันแรกที่ได้

รวมกิจกรรม ได้นอนกับเพื่อนได้มีโอกาสได้นอนกรดได้รับประทานอาหารกับเพื่อน ได้ทำกิจกรรมร่วมกันรู้สึกมีความสุขอย่างที่สุด และได้รู้ว่ามาอยู่อย่างนี้รู้สึก

คิดถึงแม่มากจริงๆ.เพราะอย่างนี้พอกลับบ้านไปรู้สึกอยากกอดแม่มากที่สุดในโลกเลย.แต่กิจกรรมในครั้งนี้ก็ต้องขอขอบคุณครูทุกท่านที่ได้จัดกิจกรรมดีๆในครั้งนี้คะ.
